The ABB ACS560 is an all-compatible general purpose variable frequency drive engineered in India for Indian conditions. It combines integrated essentials — EMC filter, brake chopper, DC choke, Safe Torque Off and Modbus RTU — with application macros for pumps, fans, plastic extrusion, pharma and textiles, so machines commission quickly and run reliably up to +55 °C ambient.

Integrated essentials

Modbus RTU interface, brake chopper, Safe Torque Off, DC choke, EMC filter and digital/analog I/O are built in as standard — an all-convenient drive with less need for external components.

Easy to use

An icon-based basic control panel (ACS-BP-S) is standard, and the panel can be mounted on a cabinet door without add-ons. Optional dummy panel RDUM-01 and DPMP-02 door-mounting kit are available.

Fit & Play fieldbus

Fieldbus autoconfiguration with all major networks: fit the module, restart the drive and select the fieldbus macro. Modbus RTU standard; PROFIBUS, PROFINET, EtherCAT, CANopen and Modbus TCP optional.

Robust for Indian conditions

Protective coated circuit boards, individual air-cooling lanes and 3-phase current measurement. Designed to operate up to +55 °C ambient, tested for humidity, dust and 3C2 corrosive gases.

Energy optimizer

The built-in energy optimizer and energy efficiency counters log savings in local currency and CO₂ reduction — a 20% speed reduction can cut power consumption by up to 50%.

Backward compatible with ACS550

Same order and service resources as the ACS550 in a more compact size, with panel/cabinet installation kits and parameter conversion from ACS550 to ACS560.

ACS-BP-S basic control panel is standard delivery. 6 x DI, 3 x RO, 2 x AI, 2 x AO, STO and embedded Modbus RTU are standard; one DI is configurable as a frequency input (16 kHz). For derating at higher altitudes, temperatures or switching frequencies, refer to the hardware manual.

Additional external options include input choke, output choke, brake resistors and the CCA-01 cold configuration adapter. For R0–R2 frames, only 2 x DI, 1 x RO and STO remain available on the base unit when a fieldbus option is fitted.

How to select the right ACS560

Step 1 — Confirm supply voltage

ACS560 covers 3-phase 380–480 V, +10%/-15%.

Step 2 — Match motor power and current

Use the rating table: normal use I_n, light-duty I_Ld or heavy-duty I_Hd.

Step 3 — Pick the duty class

Light duty allows 110% for 1 min / 10 min; heavy duty allows 150% for 1 min / 10 min.

Step 4 — Check frame and enclosure

Frames R0–R8, IP20 cabinet mount — confirm panel space using the dimensions table.

Step 5 — Add options

Fieldbus module, assistant or Bluetooth panel, input/output choke, brake resistor and CCA-01 cold configuration adapter.

Replacing an ACS550?
